We had a chance to bound around Laguna for some riding and testing before we started the drive out to Fontana for the weekend race. Beautiful views and great single track can definitely consume a day.

Kenny Turn 1

Kenny Smith hauling into turn 1 of the DH course today at the Fontana race.  He was fast and smooth up top, but the bottom was too pedally for him.  Prompting a sweet little old lady to yell "stand up ya wimp!"

OC Meets BC

The BlackBox Labs danger-van rolled into Orange County yesterday to escape the oppression of the northern territories.  Tyler, Kenny, and Adrian all got a decent sun and calf burn. Derek from BikeMag joined us for a fun little shuttle run down Chiquito Trail.

World Champ update

Nino and Nina after the worlds in SoCal.

We just got an update from XC World Champ Nino Schurter.  I always wondered what these guys did in the "off season".

Thanx, alrighty! I'm in South Africa for training. Really nice here. Perfect conditions for hard training and get fit for the season. In Switzerland we have now a lot of snow and bad weather, not what I like.
Together with my team made Patrik Gallati I spend 3 weeks here in Stellenbosch. The student city is perfect for a trainings camp, good and warm weather, cool trails and nice passes for road training. And when the work is done, there are a lot of nice places to go out for dinner or party ;-). Straight from here I go back to Frischis 40th birthday on the 19. february.
After a week back home I go to Tuscany for the first races and the Scott-Swisspower Team camp. I will take part at the Maremma Cup races on the 27. february and 7. march. Check out http://www.maremmacup.com/. Those races are presented by Sram XX.
From the 22. to the 29. march I will then take part my first time at the Cape Epic together with Florian. A hard test for me and the bike.
Have a good one.
Cheers,

Nino

What are you waiting for? Everybody is watching the big game! Empty trails!

Motivate!

Seems like it's winter pretty much everywhere now. Germany has record snow, Socal is puking rain, The East Coast might have frozen solid, and Chicago...
Well it's Chicago in the winter.

If you're a mountain biker, it's hard to stay motivated this time of the year. It's a great time to overhaul your bike, and get ready for the season to come.
