Armstrong completed the race in a time of 6:28:50, knocking off more than 15 minutes from the old course record set by Dave Weins. Lance’s win ends a six-year winning streak by Weins. Armstrong rode about the final 60 miles of the high-altitude race alone and finished with a nearly flat rear tire.
